EASY
Drive Rt. 15 North. Park in lot 4 1/2 miles outside of Monson-the last
town for Appalachian Trail thru-hikers to resupply before entering the
100 mile wilderness. It is their last trek before summiting Mt. Katahdin
Have No Fear- your destination is only 100 paces(1 pace = 2 steps). Stop
at the base of a lone pine tree at the edge of Spectacle Pond and before
the bridge.

Sue,
Thanks for opening a new page in the Maine book - first in northern Maine.
Our family vacationed for a couple of weeks in Monson 5 years ago. Son Peter
and I hiked a few miles into the 100 mile wilderness while we were there.
Last summer Pete hiked the whole 100 miles. (It appears, however, there's a
hostel half-way along the stretch now, so it's really two 50-mile
wildernesses. Sigh. I think of Zeno.
